Services
What's on offer, and how it works.
Individual therapy, telehealth, and focused short-term work — all grounded in evidence, delivered without jargon, and fitted around your life.
What I offer
Three ways to work together.
Most men start with an individual session — in person or via telehealth — and we work out the right pace and format from there.
Individual Therapy
One-to-one sessions with Ben — in person at the South Brisbane practice.
- 50-minute standard sessions
- 60-minute initial assessment
- 90-minute extended sessions available
- Medicare rebates with a Mental Health Care Plan
- DVA clients bulk-billed
Telehealth
Secure video sessions available anywhere in Australia — rebated identically to in-person under Medicare.
- Available Australia-wide
- Same Medicare rebates as in-person
- All session lengths available
- Secure, confidential platform
- Flexible scheduling
Brief Check-in
A shorter follow-up session once you're established — useful for a tune-up between longer arcs of work.
- 30-minute session
- For established clients only
- By arrangement — email to discuss
- Useful between longer blocks of work
- Not eligible for Medicare rebate
How it works in practice
What to expect from a session.
There's no script. Sessions are a conversation — structured enough to be useful, open enough to go where the work needs to go.
Most men find the first session much more straightforward than they expected. You talk, I listen, I ask questions where it helps. By the end of the hour we'll have a working sense of what we're dealing with and a rough direction for what comes next.
Sessions are 50 minutes as standard. I keep notes, but they stay in the room — you won't be handed worksheets to complete at home unless you ask for them. Between sessions you're under no obligation to do anything except live your life and notice what comes up.

No referral is required to book. A Mental Health Care Plan from your GP unlocks Medicare rebates — worth getting if you plan to come for several sessions. Your GP can write one in a longer appointment.
In the room
The practice is on the second floor of a converted Queenslander on Vulture St, South Brisbane. Quiet, west-facing, easy to get to. Parking on the street; Cultural Centre busway five minutes away.
Via telehealth
I'll send a secure video link before the session. All you need is a quiet space and a reliable connection. Works well for most things — for some trauma work I'll suggest coming in if you can.
After your last session
You're welcome to come back. Some men return for a tune-up every six to twelve months. Others check in once or twice a year. There's no pressure either way — the door stays open.
What we work on
Areas of focus.
The things that come up most often. If what's going on for you isn't here but feels close, that's usually a good enough reason to get in touch.
Anxiety
The looping thoughts, the chest tightness, the sense something's about to go wrong. Practical tools alongside the deeper work to settle the system underneath.
Low mood & depression
The flatness that creeps in, losing interest, going through the motions. We work out what's underneath it and how to come back to yourself.
Stress & burnout
Long hours, no off-switch, the wheels starting to wobble. We map what's draining you and what could fill the tank again — without you having to quit your life.
Relationships
Drift in a marriage, distance from your kids, fights you can't seem to win. We look at the patterns honestly and work out what you can shift.
Anger & emotional regulation
The short fuse, the blow-ups you regret, the shutdown that follows. Anger usually has a good reason — we figure out what yours is trying to tell you.
Trauma & grief
Things that happened, things that were lost. I'm trained in EMDR for trauma processing. If something heavier is sitting in the room with you, we can work with it.
Identity & life transitions
Fatherhood, career change, mid-life questions, the stuff you don't quite have a name for. Sometimes the work is just finding the right question to ask.
Something else
If you're not sure whether what you're carrying fits here, send a short email. We'll work out together whether I'm the right fit.
I work almost exclusively with men — not because women can't benefit from the same work, but because the conversations are different, the openings are different, and I've found I'm most useful here.

A first session is a low-stakes way to find out whether this is for you. No commitment beyond the hour.
